Description
MezzBarriers Sigma Bespoke Multi-Purpose Safety Pallet Gate
The MezzBarriers Sigma Bespoke Multi-Purpose Safety Pallet Gate is an innovative, custom-built safety solution designed to provide continuous fall protection during pallet loading and unloading operations across a wide variety of industrial environments. Unlike conventional mezzanine pallet gates, the Sigma has been specifically developed to solve complex loading challenges where standard pallet gates cannot be used, making it ideal for mezzanine floors, process platforms, loading bays, hoist loading areas, roller shutter openings, doorways, and vacuum lifting applications.
Manufactured in the UK using heavy-duty galvanised steel or Safety Yellow thermoplastic-coated tubing, every Sigma gate is built to suit the exact dimensions and operational requirements of your facility. The unique pivoting gate mechanism ensures operators remain separated from open edges at all times while allowing unrestricted loading using forklifts, overhead hoists, vacuum lifting systems, pallet trucks, and other material handling equipment.
Fully compliant with BS EN ISO 14122-3:2016, CE marked, and supplied with installation guidance, the Sigma Bespoke Safety Pallet Gate provides a reliable and long-lasting solution for improving workplace safety and meeting current HSE requirements.
Bespoke Design for Complex Loading Applications
Every Sigma gate is manufactured to order, allowing the system to be configured around your exact working environment.
Customisable features include:
- Inside widths up to 3,000mm
- Inside depths up to 4,000mm
- Maximum load heights up to 2,250mm
- Variable operating depths
- Bespoke side frame lengths
- Multiple finish options
- Adaptations for specialist loading methods
This flexible design enables the Sigma gate to integrate seamlessly into both new and existing installations where conventional pallet gates may be unsuitable.
Maximum Dimensions
| Model | A Handrail height (mm) |
B Inside/Outside width (mm) |
C Inside/Outside depth shut (mm) |
D Overall depth open (mm) |
E Maximum height of the inner gate (mm) |
F Maximum load height (mm) |
G Maximum height of edge gate (mm) |
|
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sigma Bespoke | 1100 | Up to 30001 ± 8002 | Minimum 500 mm Up to 4000 mm −100 / +100 See notes |
C + E − 1270 | Up to 2400 | Up to 2250 | Varies relative to B (Consult us) |
1 Bespoke inside width – We recommend that you allow at least 200 mm load clearance for the inside gate width.
2 Overall width, including side frames. e.g. 2000 mm gate inside width = 2800 mm gap required (Overall width)
Standard Installation requires 8 x M12 Bolts/Anchors (Not provided)
Continuous Edge Protection Without Overhanging the Mezzanine
A key advantage of the Sigma design is that the gate does not project beyond the platform edge during operation.
When the operator lowers the internal gate, an integrated linkage system automatically raises the external safety gates, maintaining a continuous protective barrier between personnel and the unprotected edge.
Benefits include:
- Continuous fall protection
- Reduced collision risk with forklifts
- No overhead obstruction during loading
- Improved operator safety
- Greater usable platform space
- Compliance with current mezzanine safety standards
The system also incorporates a 100mm aluminium kick plate to prevent objects from falling from the platform.
Designed for Forklifts, Hoists & Specialist Material Handling
Unlike many pallet gates, the Sigma can be adapted for multiple loading methods.
Typical applications include:
- Forklift loading
- Overhead hoist loading
- Vacuum lifting systems
- Sack handling systems
- Pallet truck operations
- Roller shutter openings
- Inward-opening doors
- Process platforms
- Teagle openings
- Industrial production lines
For hoist loading applications, the side frames can be extended to allow the inner gate to fold neatly behind the landed load, providing unrestricted access for disconnecting lifting equipment safely.
Heavy-Duty Construction for Industrial Environments
The Sigma combines proven MezzBarriers component construction with purpose-designed pivot mechanisms to provide exceptional durability and ease of installation.
Construction features include:
- Galvanised malleable cast iron tube clamps
- Hot-dip galvanised components to BS EN ISO 1461
- Stainless steel grub screws
- Zinc-sprayed fabricated components
- 100mm aluminium kick plate
- Modular bolt-together construction
- Replaceable components
- CE marked
The modular design allows straightforward installation without welding or extensive site modifications.
