Description

Why Choose The Mezz Barrier Hi-Gate Low Headroom?

The Mezz Barrier Hi-Gate Low Headroom Universal Safety Pallet Gate is an innovative, custom-built safety solution designed specifically for mezzanine floors, hoist openings, scaffold platforms, Teagle openings, and elevated loading areas where conventional up-and-over pallet gates cannot be installed. Engineered to provide complete fall protection while allowing the safe transfer of palletised goods, the Hi-Gate is the ideal choice for facilities with limited overhead clearance or restricted operating space.

Unlike traditional pivot-over pallet gates, the Hi-Gate utilises an advanced scissor-action lifting mechanism that raises the gate vertically to one side. This unique design allows the gate to operate efficiently in low headroom environments while providing unlimited load height, making it suitable for exceptionally tall pallets, suspended loads, machinery, and oversized materials.

Every Hi-Gate is manufactured to order, allowing dimensions and configurations to be tailored precisely to your working environment for maximum safety, efficiency, and operational flexibility.

Designed for Low Headroom & Unlimited Load Height

The Hi-Gate has been developed specifically for installations where overhead clearance prevents the use of conventional pallet gates.

Its innovative lifting mechanism offers several advantages:

  • Ideal for restricted headroom applications
  • Unlimited load height capability
  • Suitable for oversized pallets and suspended loads
  • Minimal operating depth required
  • Safe loading without overhead obstruction

The gate remains entirely within its operating footprint and does not project beyond the mezzanine edge in either the open or closed position, significantly reducing the risk of collisions with incoming loads.

Custom-Built to Your Exact Requirements

Every Mezz Barrier Hi-Gate is manufactured to suit your specific installation, ensuring a perfect fit and optimum operational performance.

Available bespoke options include:

  • Inside widths up to 2,000 mm
  • Inside depths up to 4,000 mm
  • Left or right-hand operating mechanism
  • Mechanism positioned in any corner
  • Asymmetric edge gate configurations
  • Teagle opening and hoist runway versions
  • Doorway adaptations with pass-through tube extensions

Approval drawings are supplied for all bespoke models before manufacture, ensuring complete confidence prior to installation.

Heavy-Duty Construction for Industrial Environments

Designed for continuous use in demanding industrial workplaces, the Hi-Gate combines robust construction with long-term corrosion resistance.

Construction features include:

  • Heavy-duty galvanised tubular steel construction
  • Safety-yellow thermoplastic-coated tube option
  • Hot-dip galvanised fittings to BS EN ISO 1461
  • Stainless steel grub screws
  • Smooth-running nylon pivot bushes
  • 100 mm aluminium kick plate
  • Supplied partially assembled for straightforward installation

The durable finish provides excellent protection against corrosion while maintaining high visibility for improved workplace safety.

Enhanced Operator Safety

Operator safety is at the heart of the Hi-Gate design.

Standard safety features include:

  • Anti-slam damper to control gate movement
  • Fully enclosed loading area during operation
  • Prevents simultaneous exposure to both loading edge and pallet opening
  • Smooth scissor-action mechanism
  • No gate projection beyond mezzanine edge
  • High-strength industrial construction
  • Compatible with existing guardrail systems

These features help minimise operator risk while improving loading efficiency in busy warehouse and manufacturing environments.
